She’s been the queen of arts and crafts but has now decided it’s time to give up her crown after 22-years service to the Beavers.

Pauline Martin was thrown a party to celebrate her achievements with the group.

Simon Matthews, parent to one of the Beavers, said: “All the children are going to miss her very dearly. Although she’s strict, they look forward to seeing her every week.

"it’s going to be a different place without her - she’s made it her own thing.”

The current group and those who have moved up the scouting chain came back to Gallery Hill Scout Hut for the party.

"They played party games including musical statues and brought along a variety of party food to enjoy.

"Mr Matthews, an optician and university lecturer, said: “She had undying enthusiasm. She turned up every Saturday morning with new ideas.

“My son has cerebral palsy and Pauline was his physiotherapist. She suggest he came along one night and he loves it.

“Another disabled boy called Bailey attends and although Beavers is for children aged six to eight, both of them have been able to stay on longer as it’s better suited to them. She keeps them included.”
