Bid to stop horses roaming along town's roads

ONE horse has been seized following an operation aimed at stopping horses

roaming onto roads in Dartford.

The Dartford council-led operation took place at a field on London Road on Tuesday morning.

Kent Police officers, RSPCA inspectors and Kent Highways attended. The high profile operation aimed to round up 12 horses grazing on council land.

Three owners were also reported for alleged offences under the Highways Act.

Colin Newmach, Dartford council's enforcement officer, said: "The message we

are trying to get out there is that there is a lot of responsible horse owners but there is a small minority who do not have permission to be on the land and do not consider the danger the horses are to the public."
