A broken-down crane closed two lanes on the A282 causing six-mile queues.

It is affecting traffic on the northbound carriageway between the A296, the A225 and the A206 near the Dartford Crossing.

Traffic is queuing past Junction 3 for Swanley on the anti-clockwise M25.

National Highways says it is causing delays of up to 45 minutes.

The lanes have since reopened but there are still four miles of queues according to National Highways.

There are other delays in the area, following an accident on the A2 westbound at the Darenth Interchange and a broken down vehicle on M25 anticlockwise between Junction 2 and Junction 1B.
