A plume of water could be seen by people in Dartford after a water main burst.

The pipe busted on Bob Dunn Way near a Nissan car garage this afternoon.

Sales executive at the garage Edward Alexander-Webber, 28, said that pipe exploded three hours ago and has been gushing out water since.

He added: " It is going off big time, it is very wet and it is leaking around the outside of our showroom.

"It has been going off for ages now and the water is easily reaching 20 feet high.

"I've heard that a JCB that was doing some work on the site ran over something and that is what caused it."

Abby Turner, spokesman for Thames Water said: “We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused by a burst water main in Bob Dunn Way.

“Our engineers are currently working hard to repair the pipe which was damaged by a third party digging nearby, and have now stopped the water flowing from it.

"Some customers may notice they have no water or lower pressure than normal while we get the pipe fixed. We’ll aim to get things back to normal as soon as possible.”
