Shakti Lodge care home has been rated ‘good’ following a visit by the Care Quality Commission.
A report just published said inspectors visited the home in Princes Road, Dartford, twice in January, and found progress since a previous report last May.
Keeping people safe, ensuring they had enough food and drink, training staff to communicate with dignity and respect, and making sure residents’ interests shaped the home’s activity rota, had all been identified for improvement.
This time, there was praise for staff, safeguarding and risk assessments, good record-keeping and a healthy varied menu.
Entertainment included exercise classes, music and events such as a Valentine’s Day party where residents enjoyed romantic tunes while dipping strawberries, pineapple and mini doughnuts into a chocolate fountain.
All 16 people living at the home at the time of the inspection were said to be treated with kindness, with patient staff who encouraged them to be independent.
People at Shakti Lodge have a variety of complex needs including dementia, physical health needs, and mobility difficulties.
