Adventurers signing up for a charity's next challenge will get tips from a world record holder.

We Are Beams, which is based in Hextable, is calling for fundraisers to take part in a firewalk to raise cash to support disabled children and their families.

The adventure challenge is sponsored by Taylor Wimpey and the money raised will go towards supporting more than 450 families who access the services run by the charity.

Participants will be challenged to walk 20 feet over hot coals at 1000-degree Fahrenheit.

It all takes place on Saturday, March 13 at the Princes Park Stadium, Dartford, 4pm-6pm.

The walkers will be trained by Scott Bell – twice Guinness World Record holder for the greatest distance walked on fire – before taking on the challenge hosted by UK Firewalk, one of the Uk's leading firewalking companies.

Caroline Brinkman, income and generation lead for We Are Beams, said: “The fire walk is a fantastic event to not only raise money for Beams but also taking part will be an excellent way to show others that we can overcome our fears or limitations and put our minds to something if we try."

No experience is necessary but you must be over the age of 18 to take part. It costs £30 to register and the charity is hoping everyone will raise at least £75 each.

Beams supports disabled children, young people and their families with advice, support, short breaks and respite care.

The disabled children and young people who access the services will typically have one or more learning difficulty, complex health needs, physical or sensory impairment, challenging behaviour, Autism or severe ADHD.
