Phil Parkinson (pictured) has insisted the door remains open for Chris Dickson at The Valley, despite the Charlton manager allowing the striker to join Bristol Rovers on a three-month loan deal.
Dickson scored two goals on his debut for Rovers, although he drew a blank against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.
"We had to be fair to Chris and let him go out on loan and play," said Parkinson. "If he does well, Bristol can put in a realistic offer for him or we can call him back."
Meanwhile, Sam Sodje will miss two Charlton games in October after being called up for Nigeria.
The centre-back has been chosen for a crucial World Cup qualifier against Mozambique on October 11, so he is ruled out of the previous day’s Valley league match against Oldham Athletic.
Because he has to attend a training camp, Sodje will also miss the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy match against Barnet next Tuesday.
