Coach bursts into flames at the Darenth Interchange of the M25 near Dartford

A coach has been destroyed after it was consumed in a ball of flames when it caught fire on the A2 this morning.

Only the driver was on board when the fire started in the engine compartment before spreading to the body of the vehicle.

Firefighters received a call at 10.15am and wore breathing apparatus while tackling the blaze using two hose reels at the eastbound exit slip road for the M25.

Traffic has built up at the Darenth Interchange as emergency crews deal with the blaze.

There are still delays near J2.

The emergency services have now left the scene, but Highways England remain on scene awaiting recovery of the vehicle.

Delays are currently on the A2 back to Dartford Heath.

Drivers are advised to use an alternative route where possible and allow extra time for your journey.
