North Kent College (NKC) is closing its campuses due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The Gravesend site, in Lower Higham Road, and Dartford site, in Oakfield Lane, which has thousands of students between them, will close its doors tomorrow until after half-term.

North Kent College will close amid coronavirus concerns

Parents of youngsters at the college were sent an email informing them of the decision, as concern grows following the increasing number of COVID-19 cases.

NKC spokesman Claire Shearwood Burton said: "North Kent College will be temporarily moving all students from face to face teaching to online learning from March 19 in response to the current operational issues around Covid19.

"We have had no confirmed cases of the virus at the college and plan to resume face to face teaching as normal after the Easter break, on April 20.

"Staff have spent the past 3 weeks preparing for such a scenario.

"We are working in a different way but we are certainly not closed and student’s learning opportunities will continue.

"The health and well-being of our staff and students is our top priority during these unprecedented times."
