The country's longest and fastest zipline is set to open to the public.

Thrillseekers will be able to zip across the lakes at Bluewater from Monday as part of the eagerly anticipated adrenaline-fuelled experience.

Hangloose Adventure at Bluewater is set to open from next week.

The aerial runway forms part of a series of attractions planned by Hangloose Adventure at the shopping centre in Greenhithe.

An original opening date had been set for May but this was pushed back several times after a series of delays.

A 15.5-metre dispatch tower sits above a 40-metre chalk cliff inside the quarry.

Each of the four connected 725-metre zip lines traverses the surrounding parkland and lakes, covering a combined vertical drop of more than 180 feet.

It has been more than three years in the making but is hoped the signature attraction will bolster Bluewater's leisure offering while also attracting overseas visitors from afar afield as Japan and America.

Last month KentOnline was invited for a sneak peak of the dispatch tower ahead of its "maiden flight".

Speaking at the time, Hangloose Adventure Bluewater site manager Chris Lane said: "There are not many of these around, particularly in the UK, so that in itself makes it pretty unique.

"The build up is nerve-racking because it is not a natural thing you do every day.

But he added: "The second you start flying everyone starts to enjoy it. You realise you are secure, safe, and it's really smooth...

"It is the closest you can get to flying without being in a plane."
