Jacob Erskine

Jacob Erskine was the hat-trick hero as Dartford booked a place in the last 16 of the FA Trophy in an entertaining tie with Boston United.

The former Gillingham striker put Darts ahead as early as the fourth minute with a cheeky back heel from James Rogers’ cross.

Former Forest and Notts County forward Spencer Weir-Daley headed home to level the scores for the visitors on 22 minutes as Darts looked static from a set piece.

Erskine (pictured) put the hosts back in front after the break, toe-poking home a flick-on from Elliot Bradbrook. Lee Noble stretched the lead to 3-1 shortly after with a similar neat finish inside the area.

With nine minutes to go, Leon Constantine’s header gave Boston renewed hope to make it 3-2. But Erskine calmed the nerves of the majority 1,166 crowd to complete his hat-trick in the dying minutes.

Dartford will take their place in the last 16 with the draw due to be made on Monday.
