Dartford: Louis Williams writes to Santa for permanent home
Published: 00:01, 07 December 2017
Children usually ask for toys for Christmas, however, all nine-year-old Louis Williams wants is a permanent home.
In a heartfelt letter to Santa, the Brent Primary School pupil asked if he could have a forever home as his present.
Louis, who dreams of being a master Lego builder, has moved 11 times since he was born.
He has also collapsed at school, which his mum Nicola, 31, blames on his worry about the family’s housing situation.
They are now in temporary accommodation in Perry Street, Dartford.
Louis said: “I am hoping for a Christmas miracle.
Nearly 2,000 children in Kent will be homeless on Christmas Day
“I wrote the letter because I really want a new home and I don’t really like moving.
“It makes me sad because I’ve never had a proper house.
“I just really hope that I move sometime soon.”
His mum, who also has two daughters, Emilie, six, and Olivia, two, said: “I was heartbroken like any mother would be.
“I try my hardest to give them what they need. This should be the easiest thing to provide for them.”
Nicola failed to pay rent at her last private tenancy in Dartford after her 10-year marriage broke down, and cannot afford to rent anywhere else.
She has been placed in temporary accommodation in Perry Street since around early March.
She said: “When I fell behind in my rent I went to the council numerous times asking for help.

“They kept saying that they would get back but they never did.
“The council said I made myself intentionally homeless.
“They moved me to a temporary place in Gillingham. Then they called me in and offered me this place.”
Nicola, who has been homeless three times, said of their temporary homes: “I’m stuck in this and I feel I can’t get out of it.”
After sharing Louis’ letter on Facebook, it has gone viral, and she has received plenty of supportive messages.
Dartford council was contacted for a comment.
