Charlie Sheringham in action for Dartford against Gateshead at Princes Park

Charlie Sheringham's goals for Dartford have already impressed AFC Bournemouth once and now the striker must catch their eye again.

With his contract up in the summer, Sheringham is eager to earn himself a new deal at the Seward Stadium after being injured for more than a year.

Sheringham (pictured), brought to Bournemouth by Lee Bradbury, has not played a single league game for his successor, Eddie Howe. The 24-year-old fractured his foot playing against Brentford on Boxing Day 2011 and the road to recovery proved far longer than he anticipated.

He said: "I only thought I’d be out for six months but because I was in a boot and a cast for so long, I ended up with a bit of bone growth. I needed another operation which meant I was out for another three or four months. I didn’t play one game of football in 2012.

"I’m still hoping I can get another deal. It’s going to be tough and obviously I’ve been out a long while, so who knows. I want to show Eddie Howe – and anyone else who’s watching – that I’m over my injury and can still score goals."
