Dartford FC has paid tribute to one of its most devoted supporters and honorary life president, Mike Brett-Smith, who has died.
Mr Brett-Smith was associated with the club for decades having first become involved with the Darts in the 1950s.
He went on to become a founder member of Dartford FC Limited and was its first co-secretary.
In a post on the Dartford FC website co-chairman Steve Irving expressed his sadness on behalf of the club.
He said: “Mike leaves behind his wife Sylvia, children Joanne and Andrew and grandchildren.
“Our most sincere and heartfelt condolences go out to them all for their loss. A great loss as well to our football club, to which he devoted so much time and effort.”
Mr Brett-Smith was a member of the supporters' association committee and was also a programme editor during the club’s tenure at its Watling Street ground.
He also contributed to publications including The Light at The End of the Tunnel, Dartford’s centenary handbook and was co-author of the original club history book which was published in 1995.
