A new drone video has provided a sneak peek of a new £1.2 million pirate-themed play park.

Buccaneer Bay, in Central Park, Dartford, is set to open from March 13, however there will be a free two-day ticketed grand opening for families on the weekend of March 11.

The footage by M.B.A Drone Services shows the colourful grounds, featuring a pirate ship at the centre, surrounded by an 8m tall lighthouse slide, a giant crab and other attractions.

The park covers two-and-a-half acres and has been extended to include an enclosed space for families and a picnic area – making it among the biggest of its kind in the UK.

Work on Buccaneer Bay started on November 14 last year, when the original playground was closed.

Buccaneer Bay is part of a £2 million borough-wide scheme by Dartford council to improve its play parks.

Leader of the authority, Jeremy Kite, said “We’ve been working on this plan for many months and we wanted to deliver something very special.

"The council is investing in its play spaces all over the borough but Central Park receives more visitors than any other and it was a chance to create a whole adventure to spark the imaginations of our young visitors and provide a great place for families to make memories.”
