Additional evidence is to be submitted ahead of a man's sentencing for carrying drugs over the Dartford Crossing.

Marian Dinca was caught by police with thousands of pounds worth of cocaine on his approach to the tunnel in Kent just before 6pm on Friday, April 17.

Police stopped the man on the Crossing with more than 900 grams of cocaine

Officers searched his Fiat 500 and recovered a shopping bag containing around 900 grams of a white powder, later confirmed as cocaine worth up to £90,000.

A large quantity of cash totalling £12,500 was also uncovered following a search of the driver's home address and a number of mobile phones were also seized.

The 26-year-old, of Ambleside Drive, Leicester, was arrested and later pleaded guilty to charges of charges of possession with intent to supply cocaine, being concerned in the supply of cocaine and acquiring and using criminal property.

He appeared via video link today at his sentencing hearing before Maidstone Crown Court where it was agreed the case was to be adjourned.

It comes after the prosecution failed to submit "additional material" on time, which it argues may affect his sentencing.

Judge Katherine Moore said: "The defendant and the public must be sure on the basis on which a defendant is sentenced.

"The fact the application has been submitted so late is very disappointing, but I must take into account the very serious nature of these offences."

She ordered that additional materials relied upon by the prosecution be submitted by 4pm on May 13 latest.

The sentencing hearing was adjourned until Friday, May 22, at the same court.
