A man in his seventies was assaulted and robbed of cash and a gold ring by two men posing as police officers during a burglary at his home.

The suspects, both described as white and aged between 30 and 40, used scarves to conceal their identities as they entered the property in Phoenix Place, Dartford, on Saturday afternoon.

They identified themselves as officers when the victim found them searching his bedroom and assaulted him, leaving him with bruising to his left wrist.

They went on to search the property and stole a number of items, including the gold ring and cash.

One of the suspects is said to have a broad build and was wearing blue jeans with a dark green scarf covering his face, while the other is described to have a medium build and was wearing a white baseball cap and grey trousers.

Police were alerted at 1.39pm on Saturday and investigating officers want to hear from anybody who saw the men in the area, or who may have also been approached in a similar way.
