Police called to man on bridge at Longfield Railway Station

Trains lines were disrupted and police called after a man was spotted on a bridge near a railway station last night.

Kent Police officers headed to Longfield Railway Station, Station Road, alongside British Transport Police at about 10.44pm after receiving reports of concern for a distressed man.

Lines between Swanley and Rochester were stopped as emergency services dealt with the incident, which ended just after midnight.

As officers spoke to the man, the power to the lines was switched off.

The man was eventually talked down and handed over to health care professionals.
