A property makeover is awaiting a former fire station which is set to go under the hammer.

The building in South Darenth, near Dartford, is an ideal candidate for a revamp to make Kevin McLeod or George Clarke proud.

But the site also has permission to be flattened for new apartments so potential new owners wishing to transform the existing building may have a fight off interest from developers.

Auctioneers Clive Emson say the site on the corner of New Road – opposite the old Horton Kirby Paper Mill – has permission for six self-contained flats.

Four of the properties would have two bedrooms and the remaining two would be one-bedroom homes.

Planning permission was granted in December 2019 for the proposed two-storey development by Sevenoaks council.

John Stockey, auctioneer, said: “This plot is in a predominantly residential area – just outside the conservation area.

“With a demand for housing there is likely to be interest from builders and developers."

The new owners may wish to retain the old brick-built station and convert the building into a new home in a Grand Designs-style conversion.

The lot has a guide price of £370,000-£380,000.

It is one of 107 lots up for sale at the firm's next online auction which is open until March 24 via the company's website.
