Firefighters were called to a town centre takeaway chain after a pizza oven caught fire.
Two fire engines attended the blaze at Fireaway in Market Place, Dartford, at around 5.30pm yesterday.
Smoke could be seen billowing from the top of the building near a ventilation system as worried staff members exited a back entrance of the shop.
Crews used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames and the fire was put out by 7.11pm.
There were no reported injuries and the cause is believed to be accidental.
One of the fire engines that attended was from the London Fire Brigade.
The site is shut until further notice following the incident.
In a statement posted on the business’s Facebook story, bosses wrote: “Hello everyone, sorry for the inconvenience, the Dartford store will be closed temporarily until further notice.
“See you again soon. Thank you.”
Fireaway opened its Dartford branch at the start of 2021 after launching in London in 2016.
It has 14 locations in Kent, with other branches in places like Ashford, Canterbury and Maidstone.
Fireaway has been approached for comment.
