There were severe delays near a busy motorway junction due to an overturned car.
Traffic was temporarily held on A2 coastbound between the A269 (Greenhithe) and the A2260 (Ebbsfleet) following a collision involving three vehicles.
The emergency services and traffic officers were in attendance just after 3pm.
A police spokesperson said: “Officers were called at 3.20pm on May 9 to a collision involving three vehicles on the coastbound carriageway of the A2 near Bean.
“One of the vehicles had overturned and officers along with ambulance crews attended the scene.
“A man who was in the overturned car was treated for injuries and arrangements were made to recover the vehicles.”
All lanes on the A2 later reopened, however, National Highways warned drivers there were still delays and miles of congestion.
Traffic was queuing as far as Bexley, with further delays expected around Darenth, Green Street Green, Southfleet, Stone, Greenhithe and Ebbsfleet Valley.
