An inquest date has been set for a satanist found dead in his cell after being handed a life sentence for killing a policeman during a drug-fuelled sex session.

Stefano Brizzi, 50, was sentenced on December 12 last year after the murder of 59-year-old Gordon Semple, from Greenhithe, on April 1.

Brizzi was found dead in his cell at Belmarsh prison in south east London on Sunday, February 5, with a pre-inquest review at Southwark Coroner’s Court hearing that was found hanged a month after being taken off suicide watch.

The Italian had denied murder at the Old Bailey in November, but was convicted and jailed for life with a minimum of 24 years.

He admitted one count of obstructing a coroner by dismembering the body, which he received a seven-year sentence for, to run concurrently.

The Breaking Bad fan had met PC Semple through gay dating app Grindr for drug-fuelled sex before killing him, dismembering the body and trying to eat parts of his victim.

They had taken crystal meth and played a sex game which involved Brizzi tightening a leash around his neck.

Brizzi, a former web developer for the bank Morgan Stanley, had denied killing him and claimed PC Semple died accidentally in a “state of erotic bliss” when the lead around his neck slipped.

He was arrested on April 7 after neighbours complained of a stink from his south London flat.

The full inquest will open on April 23, 2018.
