Mother-of-four Donna Eastwood, whose body was found at the scene of a burned out car was stabbed, it has been revealed.

A post-mortem showed signs she was stabbed in her body.

The details were revealed at the opening of her inquest.

The body of Ms Eastwood, 26, of Almond Road, Stone, was discovered when firefighters were called to a burning car in Rowhill Road, Wilmington, at 6.20am on Saturday, October 18.

Police arrested Joshua Caird, 26, also of Almond Road, the following day and charged him with her murder on Monday, October 20.

He was remanded in custody and will formally enter a plea to the charge on February 9. His trial is due to take place on June 22.

Ms Eastwood's inquest was opened and adjourned by North West Kent Coroner Roger Hatch, at Gravesend Old Town Hall, in High Street.

During the opening Ms Eastwood was named as Donna Elizabeth Sheppard.

However, a spokeswoman for the coroner's office said the post mortem results had showed signs "consistent with stab wounds to the torso".

Toxicology results are still awaited.

It is not known when the full inquest hearing into Ms Eastwood's, death will begin, due to on-going court proceedings.
