A car fire has been causing long delays on both sides of the Dartford Crossing.

Three lanes were closed after a car burst into flames at junction 31 of the M25 and A1306 in Thurrock.

Firefighters put out the blaze and recovered the car just after 11am, but drivers experience lengthy queues into the afternoon.

Drivers were being warned to expect delays of about an hour.

At 4pm, traffic was stretching back into Kent to junction four at Orpington.
