Debris in the Dartford Tunnel caused huge delays after one of the key routes between Kent and Essex had to be shut.

The west tunnel was closed while it is cleared but was reopened by 7pm.

Highways England was reporting delays of up to 45 minutes above the usual journey time on the approach to the A282.

Traffic was queuing as far back as junction 3 of the M25 for the M20.

Meanwhile one is lane closed and there is heavy traffic due to broken down car on M25 anticlockwise from J3 M20 (Swanley Interchange) to J2 A2 (Darenth Interchange).
