Dartford manager Tony Burman has refused to lump all the blame at the door of his keeper Louis Wells for Tuesday night's FA Cup exit.

Two basic goalkeeping errors by Wells, who was playing for just the fourth time this season, contributed to Darts losing 4-1 at home to Forest Green.

Burman said: "Louis has been out for a couple of months and we haven’t been able get him enough game time.

"He’s fit, he’s trained hard and we had no other option but to put Louis in goal. He did well on Saturday but unfortunately it shows his match sharpness wasn’t there on Tuesday.

"I’m not going to put all the blame onto Louis. Other people made mistakes as well but the ones Louis made were costly because they were the second and third goals."

Dartford went into the fourth qualifying round replay knowing a home tie against Port Vale awaited if they could find a way past the Gloucestershire side.

He added: "For 60 minutes we did well but as we were making our changes, that’s when they scored. Everything was going to plan but the second goal changed that.

"It was followed up too quickly by another mistake and in a short space of time, we’ve gone 1-1 to 3-1 down. In all honesty, that was game over."
