A greyhound trainer was attacked in broad daylight by a jilted man involved in a love triangle, a viral clip has shown.

James Turner, 36, was parading his dog at Crayford Greyhound Track in Dartford when he was ambushed from behind.

A short clip on social media shows a man in a blue jacket running up the track before jumping on Turner's back and striking him multiple times.

It's been alleged the bust up came after Mr Turner struck up a friendship with his rival's ex-partner, who works at the stadium.

The attacker, who is in his 40s, could be heard shouting "Where's James Turner?" before the attack which took place moments before the 12.24 race.

It's thought he then turned himself into the police following the attack.

One source told a national paper: “He would never have done anything like this before, but it’s too much for him. Even after all of this he still loves Gemma.

“It was like a red mist descended. He didn’t know where he was or what he was doing.”

Hundreds of thousands of people have seen the incident, which happened at the Ladbrokes Coral owned stadium, after it was posted on Twitter.

“I’ve never seen anything like this," one person wrote.

While another added: “It’s common knowledge at the track what’s been going on.

“These things happen in life. But the attacker, no matter how angry he was, should have confronted the trainer after the meeting not while on parade.”

A third commented: “Crayford parades will be pay-per-view in future — might bring Barry Hearn into promoting the sport.”

A Ladbrokes spokesman told The Sun newspaper said: “This was a deeply unsavoury incident and one the police are now dealing with.

“Our prime concern is the well-being of the individual who was the victim of this awful assault.

“We are making sure he is OK, which fortunately he seems to be, while also assisting the police with their investigation.”

Leo Walker of betting giant Entain, which owns Labrokes, added: “We’re shocked by what everyone witnessed.

“We’ll provide all the evidence we have.”

A Met Police spokesman said: "Police were called at 12.36pm on Wednesday to reports of an assault at a commercial premises in Stadium Way, Crayford.

"A man was arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm."
