A man has been charged after allegedly ramming his car into a police vehicle during a chase, injuring two officers.

Luke Jervis, 29, of no fixed address, appeared at Medway Magistrates' Court today, following the pursuit in Dartford.

The Roads Policing Unit (RPU) described how officers "want to go home in one piece at the end of the night" on its Twitter account.

Jervis will appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday, February 11, charged with dangerous driving, two counts of attempted grievous bodily harm, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.

He pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis and cocaine at the magistrates' court earlier today and has been sentenced to 21 days in prison.

Two officers were taken to hospital with "minor injuries" following the collision.

Police spokesman Lucy Hurdle said: "Officers on patrol became suspicious of a car that was being driven erratically on Heath Lane, Dartford, at approximately 10.15pm on Saturday.

"The car failed to stop when requested and made contact with the patrol car.

"A pursuit was authorised which came to an end on Maiden Lane, Dartford, where the car again made contact with the patrol car."

Jervis has been remanded in custody until his next appearance at Maidstone Crown Court.
