Man dies after being hit by train at Swanscombe station

A man died after being struck by a train last night.

The incident happened between Gravesend and Dartford at around 7.50pm and lead to no services running between the two stations.

British Transport Police have confirmed they were called to Swanscombe station to reports of a casualty on the tracks.

Spokesman Jordan Bluer said: "Paramedics also attended, however, sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Next of kin have been informed.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner."

The line between Gravesend and Dartford was later opened after emergency services had left the scene.
