A man who dumped waste from Indian restaurants has been fined after admitting a number of fly-tipping offences.
Suna Meah, 50, of Main Road, Hextable, admitted to the charges at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on Friday after investigations by Sevenoaks District Council discovered the offences between May and July this year.
The piles of rubbish consisted of beer bottle packaging, wholesale empty food ingredientbags, egg trays and other trade waste and were found at Bevan Place Car Park, Swanley.
Meah pleaded guilty to the offences and was ordered to pay a total of £780, including a sum of £550 covering the Council’s clean-up costs.
Sevenoaks council’s portfolio holder for direct services, Cllr Matthew Dickins, said: “This is yet another example of our ongoing commitment to combatting fly-tipping in our District.
“Like other fly-tippers before him, Mr Meah showed no respect for the law, fellow residents or the natural environment we all hold so dear.
“Like others before him, he was caught and brought to justice.
“Sevenoaks District Council is the only local authority in Kent to have a dedicated fly-tipping investigation team and earlier this year helped secure the introduction of a new countywide environmental crime intelligence analyst.
“We will continue to successfully pursue criminals like Mr Meah until the message is understood: the Sevenoaks District is not open to fly-tipping.”
