Rasak Osomo in court accused of attempted murder after knife incident near Heath Lane school

A man has appeared in court after being charged with attempted murder following an incident near a school.

A man wearing a balaclava was spotted with a knife near Dartford Science and Technology College in Heath Lane, Dartford, on Monday afternoon.

Police were called to Heath Lane just after 3pm and pupils at several nearby schools were placed under temporary lockdown, with some children not allowed to leave unless they were being picked up by parents.

Rasak Osomo, 23, of Willow Road, Dartford, has since been charged with attempted murder, attempting to cause grievous bodily harm and threatening a person with a blade.

He appeared before magistrates in Medway today and was remanded in custody.

He didn't enter any pleas in relation to the charges.

The case against him was sent to Woolwich Crown Court to be dealt with, and Oromo is expected to appear there on October 25.

Officers are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to call the appeal line on 01474 366149, quoting reference number 25-0720.

They would also like to speak to anyone who may have footage of the incident.
