A man has denied several driving offences after a vehicle allegedly stolen ended up on top of a roundabout during a police chase.
Ashley Hornby, 38, was arrested after a car was reported stolen from a house in Caspian Way, Swanscombe, at around 9.30pm on Christmas Eve.
Officers were alerted to a car matching its description near Shepherds Lane, Dartford, at around 3.30pm on Christmas Day.
Officers followed the vehicle before it allegedly tried to make off.
The Mini Cooper was left on top of a roundabout in Watling Street five minutes later.
As well as the car, Christmas presents were also reported to have been stolen along with items of clothing.
Hornby, from Strood, has been charged with taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, aggravated vehicle taking, failing to provide a specimen for analysis, driving without insurance and driving while disqualified and failing to stop for police.
Hornby appeared before magistrates in Medway this morning and pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
He was also allegedly driving at 80mph and going the wrong way, but denies he was driving.
His case was sent to Maidstone Crown Court and he is next due to paper there on Friday, January 25.
He was remanded in custody until then. In relation to the burglary offence inquiries are ongoing.
