A resident returned home to discover two men trying to break in.

Two men were allegedly trying to gain entry to their property in Dale Road, Swanley on May 2.

Both fled and an examination of CCTV was carried out in the area and forensics gathered evidence at the scene.

Christopher Rye, of Lea Bank Road, Dudley, in the West Midlands, was arrested yesterday in Welling, Greater London.

He has since been charged on suspicion of attempted burglary and failing to provide a sample for a drug test.

The 40-year-old was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court today (May 25).
