Bexley hit and run leaves man in hospital

A man is in a critical condition after being hit by a car which failed to stop.

Police were called to reports of a man found lying unconcious on Bexley Road, Bexley, at 4.35am on Saturday.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was struck down in a suspected hit and run in Bexley. (19530176)

He was struck by a silver Toyota Prius which drove away from the scene.

A London air ambulance was called and the 26-year-old was taken to hospital with head and chest injuries.

The car has since been recovered nearby.

Police are appealing for information and inquiries are underway to trace the car owner.
