Man in hospital with serious injuries after car crashes following police stop in Dartford

A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a car overturned when driving off from police.

Police stopped a grey Audi RS3 in Cedar Drive, Sutton-at-Hone, at 4.30am.

However, the motorist drove away and collided with a parked car on a driveway further up the road, the car flipping over in the process.

The driver was treated by the ambulance service for serious injuries and was taken to a London hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

The road was shut following the incident, with drivers facing heavy traffic in nearby Station Road and Main Road, but has since been reopened.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to call 01622 798 538, quoting reference 3-0216.

A mandatory referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct due to the driver speaking to police officers prior to the collision.
