Man talked out of jumping from Queen Elizabeth II bridge at Dartford by police

Police officers have talked down a man threatening to jump from the Queen Elizabeth II bridge at Dartford.

The driver pulled over and got out of his vehicle before climbing over the railing at the edge of the crossing.

Essex Police was called and officers successfully managed to persuade the man not to jump.

After about half an hour on the edge, he climbed back over the railing.

The bridge was closed by the Highways Agency just before 3pm at the request of police Essex Police.

A man is believed to have been spotted on the crossing by motorists.

Long tailbacks built up in the area until the bridge was reopened at about 4pm.

No one is believed to have been injured.
