Two lanes were closed, and traffic is said to be queuing for three miles on the clockwise carriageway, although the motorway has just re-opened.

Congestion is tailing back to before the Junction 30 turn-off for Lakeside and Purfleet.

Highways England said nobody is thought to have been injured, and the road is expected to be cleared soon.

Police have been approached for further information.
