Eight years after a Kent couple won £8million on the Lottery they returned to the store where they won their lucky ticket.

Ted, 79, and Marilyn Newton, 74, Fleet road, in Dartford won the £7,985,672 jackpot in 2009 and split it with their three children.

The pair returned to their local Costcutter on Fleetdale Parade last Tuesday (June 5) to deliver a limited edition golden station for the store, signifying the store a lucky spot where someone one millions.

Now retired, Ted is hoping the new addition to the shop will be lucky for someone else.

He said: "“I always bought our family syndicate tickets for the Saturday draw but decided to play mid-week on a whim when I saw it was a Lotto rollover.

"When I think of all the people we have been able to help and the experiences we’ve had since that day, its one whim that definitely paid off.

“We now have a home in rural Kent but have kept our family home here in Dartford, and spend our time flitting between the two so whenever we are here, I still buy our syndicate tickets in the store.

"It’s been lucky for us before and hopefully with the edition of the gold playstation it will be lucky again for someone else.”

Shopkeeper Sujatha Susantha (cor) was happy to see Ted and Marilyn and thanked them for their support.

She said: “It’s amazing to think there are now 5,000 lottery millionaires who have all enjoyed that same winning moment as Ted and Marilyn, a moment which for many starts at the National Lottery playstation in their local shop."

“Here’s hoping this gold edition will bring us even more luck so that more Dartford lottery millionaires can join the 39 lottery millionaires already made in the DA postcode area alone.”
