Traffic was brought to standstill on the M25 after an accident involving a motorbike.
Emergency services closed the motorway in both directions to allow the air ambulance to attend the scene between Junctions 3 at Swanley and Junction 2 at Darenth.
Police say they were called at 1.30pm to the A2 sliproad on the anti-clockwise carriageway following reports of a collision involving a car and a motorbike.
Officers, along with Kent Fire and Rescue Service and SECAMB attended and the motorcyclist was taken to Darent Valley hospital.
Congestion was queuing back to halfway between Junction 3 and Junction 4 at Orpington.
Both carriageways were closed but have since reopened.
