Charlton's new board have sacked manager Phil Parkinson and his backroom team after falling out of the promotion places following a five-game run without a win in League 1.
Monday's 4-2 home defeat against struggling Swindon was the final straw for the new administration, who also relieved assistant manager Tim Breacker and first-team coach Mark Kinsella of their duties.
The Addicks have not won in the league since November 20 and face a daunting trip to Tottenham in the FA Cup third round on Sunday afternoon.
Charlton chairman Michael Slater said: “Clearly, improvement is needed on the field. The team has not won in the league since November and recent performances have simply not been good enough.
"The defeat to Swindon Town convinced us as a board that change is required now, while we are still in the hunt for promotion, and that we must appoint a new manager to give us every chance of going up.”
The club will announce a caretaker management team in due course.
Mr Slater added: "The board recognises that Phil, Tim and Mark have worked under difficult circumstances for the past two years and would like to thank them for their efforts."
