Crayford's Lewis Pettitt showed plenty of promise when seeing off Pavel Senkvos (Mansfield) in his four-round contest on points.

For Pettitt, it was a relief just to get to the ring as his previous opponent pulled out just minutes before his last fight.

That meant he was well advanced in his training this time around - and it showed.

"I was in control," said Pettitt. "He was dangerous with his head and I didn't want to get caught, so I kept my distance and showed I could box.

"I was ready to box when my last opponent pulled out so I've had an extra six week of training for this one.

"I injured my hand in the second round and I know my jab is my best punch, but I only used it when I had to as it was hurting."

The youngster certainly earned plenty of plaudits on the night and Pettitt is ready to step up soon.

"I'm only 20 so I've got loads to learn," he added. "I'm boxing again in May and if that's not a six-rounder than the one after will be.

"I want a British title at least but I'm going slowly. I enjoy it every day now, as an amateur I started to fall out of love with the sport.

"I was buzzing from the atmosphere, I had great support and really enjoyed it."
