A police dog played a key part in tracking down a suspect who drove across six lanes of the A2 at speeds of up to 120mph.

Fallon, a German Shepherd, was deployed alongside officers and the National Police Air Service helicopter to catch the driver who fled from his vehicle and tried to hide in woodland in Dartford.

The high-speed chase started after a car was spotted driving dangerously along the A2 towards London at about 4.30pm on Sunday.

The vehicle came to a halt in Portman Close, Dartford.

Fallon then led her handler, PC Scott James, to a holly tree near Rochester Way where the suspect was found.

An imitation firearm was discovered in Trosley Avenue, Gravesend.

A 19-year-old man from Gravesend was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, theft of a motor vehicle and possession of a firearm.

He has been released on bail while inquiries continue.
