A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We were called shortly before 9.25am today with concerns for the safety of a woman on the Dartford Crossing bridge.

"Our officers spoke to the woman and she was brought to safety. She was left in the care of health professionals. "

All lanes reopened at 10.10am but drivers were still queuing back to and beyond Junction 30 for Lakeside.
