Plans for a 1.7 million sq ft development have been given the green light by the council.

Developer Bericote Properties and investor Tritax, a real estate investment trust, were granted permission for land at Littlebrook, where the power station once stood.

Dartford council gave plans for the proposed development of a 450,240 sq ft factory the go ahead after the land was acquired in July last year.

The demolition of the power station was part of planned phases one and two - which totalled approximately 54 acres - and the final demolition is set to take place some time in 2020.

After it is completed it leaves the developers with the potential of approximately 1.7 million sq ft of distribution buildings together with some smaller urban logistics facilities.

The developers said a key part of their process of demolishing the land was ensuring that as much of the material as possible was recycled.

Tritax partner Colin Godfrey said: “Working alongside our development partner, Bericote Properties, we are delighted to have been granted planning permission for the first development phase of this exciting Big Box logistics park within the M25 at Dartford.”
