The QE2 Bridge has reopened after being closed for nearly seven hours.

High winds forced it to be shut for safety reasons at around 9.15am.

It eventually reopened at just after 4pm.

There are long queues following the closure of the QEII bridge

However, motorists are restricted to a speed of 30mph.

Officials say there is approximately three miles of queuing traffic on the M25 anti-clockwise heading towards Dartford.

A rare sight, no traffic on the QEII bridge

Traffic travelling from Essex to Kent was earlier diverted via the right hand tunnel, while traffic from Kent to Essex travelled via the left hand tunnel.

It comes as the Met Office issued two yellow weather warnings for Kent.
