Queen Elizabeth II bridge at the Dartford Crossing shuts for maintenance on Saturday night

By: Tom Acres

The Queen Elizabeth II bridge at the Dartford Crossing will be closed overnight tonight.

Southbound traffic will be diverted in a contraflow through the east tunnel from 10pm until 5.30am, with northbound traffic limited to the west tunnel.

Drivers of taller vehicles - 4.8m northbound and 5m southbound - will be diverted via the western section of the M25.

The closure will allow for bridge inspections, carriageway cleaning, lighting maintenance, calibration of the ice sensors and replacing electronic signs on the overhead gantries.

Live traffic information will be available as usual at highways.gov.uk/traffic and on Twitter @HighwaysSEAST.
