Sam Webb defends his British light middleweight title on Friday night in Medway while fellow Swanley boxer Martin Welsh aims to keep hot on his heels.

Victories for Webb (pictured) and Welsh could set up an all-Swanley clash for the British title. For now, the pair are concentrating on winning their respective bouts.

Webb tops the bill at Medway Park and makes his second defence of the British crown when he faces Manchester’s Prince Arron.

Challenger Arron holds the height advantage and 30-year-old Webb knows he could be an awkward customer.

He said: "He’s a big fella but I’ve been working on my game plan and tactics. If I do what I’ve been told, then it shouldn’t be a problem.

"I would love to stop him but I’ve trained for the 12 rounds. If I can knock him out then that’s great but I just want to win, however I do it."

Welsh, meanwhile, takes on Blackpool’s Brian Rose for the English light middleweight title, branded by some as the British eliminator.

With nine wins from nine professional bouts, Welsh is eager to take his chance and push himself into the spotlight with a victory.

He said: "I’ve been told that if he (Rose) beats me then he can go for the British title but I’m going to beat him and go for it myself."
