Greenhithe school closes after suspected break-in

A school has been forced to close following a suspected break-in.

Police are investigating reports of a burglary in Hayes Road, Greenhithe, which took place at around 1.35am.

Stone St Mary's Church of England primary school has announced its closure today following the incident.

Officers were called to the scene and conducted an area search alongside the National Police Air Service.

No arrests have been made.

Headteacher of Stone St Mary’s Church of England primary school Jane Rolph said: "The school sadly suffered a break-in during the early hours of this morning.

"Thieves took a number of laptop computers as well as causing damage to the building.

"The school remains closed today but is expected to open as usual tomorrow.

"We would like to thank parents and carers for their understanding and support today."
