PARENTS have been put on stranger danger alert after a man was reported following children as they left an after-school club.
The head of West Hill Primary School at Dartford has sent warning letters to parents after two reported incidents of a man acting suspiciously nearby occurred on the same day.
Patricia Hindle said: "It was not a parent but someone picking up children from a nearby club in the school's vicinity.
She was followed part of the way home when she collected a number of children and was quite concerned."
Martin Pearce, spokesman for North Kent police, said: "The reports to the school and its subsequent actions indicate there is an encouraging level of vigilance being practised by parents and schools across North Kent."
He added the police want people and teachers to continue to be vigilant and to report any incidents to them immediately."
Mrs Hindle added: "Another parent saw a man acting suspiciously the same day when they collected their child."
One mother, whose eight-year-old daughter goes to the school said: "What is happening in the world when children can't even go to school without being approached by a stranger?"
