The search for a 65-year-old man, missing from a hospital, has been called off after a body was found in Dartford.

Alan Willoughby was last spotted on CCTV leaving Darent Valley in Darenth Wood Road at about 8.30am on Tuesday.

Alan Willoughby, from Crayford, was last seen at Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford

Groups of people had been out looking for him in north Kent today following a search organised by a family friend.

But this afternoon Kent Police released the sad news it was no longer appealing for information about Mr Willoughby's whereabouts, after a body was found about a mile away from the hospital, in Green Street, Green Road.

A spokesman said formal identification was yet to take place, but that the family of Alan Willoughby, who was from Crayford, have been informed.
